Strong Support given by Three Large Corporations Interview
to the Hong Hong Workplace English Campaign
The standard of English of our students and workforce has
been a matter of concern among many in the community. While
education reform measures by the Government are still in progress,
it would be too early to expect any immediate improvement
of the English language standard of Hong Kong students. As
far as the English language situation of the Hong Kong workforce
is concerned, the Hong Kong Workplace English Campaign, launched
by the Government last year, did help to heighten our awareness
of the importance of English proficiency in the workplace.
We interviewed staff from three leading corporations. They
all showed strong support for the Campaign and reckoned that
employees' English proficiency can definitely affect the development
and competitiveness of their companies.
